Krispy Kremes

By Rachael Foster

Krispy Kreme is another prominent part of American history and culture. Started in 1933, which was good timing, the year before the Great Depression, however this minor bump in the road didn’t seem to faze them. Vermon Rudolf bought a yeast recipe off a guy in New Orleans, rented a factory in North Carolina and began selling to local grocery stores. Things just snow balled from there, now you can’t go into a gas station or an airport anywhere in the world without seeing their doughnuts. It amazes me that you can take some batter, deep fry it, roll it in sugar and get something so magical, let alone finding a pinup curled up inside.

About the artist

I'm a contemporary artist; my romantic themes contemplate the passing of time, blending together a mixture of eclectic vintage sensibilities with modern atmospherics. My work is a witty and engaging style of painting, intelligently conceived with a comedic twist. Light and carefree, bold and immediate, each Rachael Foster piece is distinctive and innately feminine
